In Ioannina, near the village Agios Minas in Zagori, at the mouth of the Voidomatis River to the plain of Konitsa, there’s a rock shelter, 11 m above the river channel. Excavations brought to light Paleolithic tools of firestone, faunal remains, and remains of focal points in an extent of 80 square meters.

The stratigraphic sequence dates to the Paleolithic period (16kyr-10kyr). Excavations started in 1993 and are continued periodically. It appears that this cave was being used by hunters who ambushed animals coming out of the plain of Konitsa.
